Before you book
Why can't I book instantly online?

Because access to Corcovado isn't ours to sell on demand. Every tour depends on permits issued by the national park (SINAC) and on limited space at the ranger stations. We confirm your dates first, then you pay — never the other way around.

How far in advance should I book?

One to two months ahead. High season runs December through April, plus Semana Santa and public holidays. Sirena has a strict daily visitor cap and far fewer overnight spaces, so last-minute availability is very limited.

Where do the tours depart from?

Most of our tours leave from Puerto Jiménez, which is centrally located and easy to reach. If you're staying in Drake Bay, we also run selected departures from there — tell us when you enquire.

What time do the tours begin?

Early. Most start between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. depending on the route, because we travel by boat or 4x4 to reach the park. We confirm your exact meeting point and time with your reservation, and we ask you to arrive ten minutes before.

What fitness level do I need?
  • Easy  — Sirena Day Tour by boat: short, flat walks over 3–4 hours.
  • Easy to moderate  — Sirena Overnight: no long hikes.
  • Moderate to challenging  — La Leona to Sirena: 16–18 km.
  • Challenging  — Los Patos to Sirena: 20+ km, technical terrain.

Every tour takes place in hot, humid conditions.

Can children join?

For multi-day hikes we recommend ages 12 and up, in good physical condition. If you're travelling with younger children, write to us — several of our shorter tours work well for families.

On the tour
What wildlife will I see?

Corcovado holds one of the densest concentrations of species on Earth. You may see Baird's tapirs; spider, howler and white-faced monkeys; sloths; scarlet macaws; coatis and toucans — and there's a real chance of wild cats such as pumas.

Nothing is guaranteed in the wild. But our guides have spent years on these trails and know where the animals move.

Where do I sleep on overnight tours?

At Sirena Ranger Station, inside the park. It's simple and it's meant to be: shared dormitories with bunk beds and mosquito nets, shared bathrooms, clean basic facilities.

There is no hotel inside Corcovado. Falling asleep to the sound of the rainforest is part of what you came for.

Is it safe to hike in Corcovado?

Yes. Every tour is led by a certified guide who follows park protocol and carries first-aid and communication equipment. Groups are kept to a maximum of six travellers per guide. Following your guide's instructions at all times is mandatory.

What happens if the weather turns?

Tours run rain or shine — this is a rainforest, and rain is part of it. Safety comes first: if the boats can't operate or the park closes, we reschedule or offer an alternative whenever possible.
